Welcome to the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Progress Review Group (AYAO PRG) Website, your primary source for information on the AYAO PRG, the PRG process, PRG and Roundtable members, and materials from the Planning and Roundtable Meetings.

What is the AYAO PRG?
Co-sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF), the AYAO PRG process and subsequent report will comprehensively define and describe issues related to adolescent and young adult oncology and, more importantly, identify research priorities, gaps, and resources that are needed to advance and improve cancer prevention, detection and treatment in AYAO patients. The AYAO PRG process entails convening 20 – 30 prominent members of the scientific, medical, and advocacy communities to serve as PRG members. A larger group of 80 to 100 renowned leaders in the field will gather for a Roundtable meeting, a forum in which PRG members receive additional information and input from the research community. The PRG will prepare an AYAO PRG report that provides an overview of the science, and outlines top research priorities and resources needed to address the challenges facing adolescent and young adults with cancer. Planned to be presented at a national meeting in the fall of 2006, the AYAO PRG report will set the stage for a broader discussion among the research community of the scientific and medical challenges of the AYAO population and lead to the development and implementation of a strategy to improve outcomes for this age group.
