NCI-Supported Participants

The U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) will cover ICSN Biennial Meeting travel expenses of supported participants in accordance with established policy. NCI-supported participants received a letter detailing these guidelines from NOVA Research Company. Travel and lodging arrangements made outside of these guidelines will not be reimbursed. No exceptions to this policy will be made.

Other Participants

Other participants attending the 2012 Biennial Meeting are responsible for their own travel arrangements and related expenses.

Travel To Sydney and Environs

Sydney Airport (SYD) is only 10km from Sydney’s central business district and major tourist attractions.

The ICSN 2012 meeting site, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Convention Centre, is close to Sydney’s central business district, approximately 20 minutes from Sydney Airport by car. A taxi from the airport to the central business district costs approximately $27 US.

Regular bus service from the airport to the City operates between 0600 and 2100 hours (not recommended for those with large amounts of luggage).

AirportLink trains can be boarded at Sydney Airport domestic and international terminals. Trains run on average every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends. From the international terminal, travel to Central Station takes 12 minutes; travel to Circular Quay takes 21 minutes. The ICSN 2012 headquarters hotel is the Hotel Ibis. Please reserve your hotel room when you register for the conference.

The Hotel Ibis located at 70 Murray Street, Darling Harbour, Pyrmont, in the heart of Sydney’s tourist district. A 5-minute walk from the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Hotel Ibis features Internet access, a restaurant, a bar, and easy access to monorail and lightrail services.

Visa Requirements

All travelers to Australia (other than New Zealanders and Norfolk Islanders) must have a valid entry visa prior to travel to Australia. For many nationalities (29 in total) an Electronic Visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) can be obtained from your travel agent or airline when arranging your travel.
