Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (PACHE) Investigators Workshop 2014

The NCI Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) requests poster abstracts from the PACHE U54/P20 program on scientific impact in cancer research, cancer training, cancer outreach, and/or cancer education. Topics may span basic, translational, behavioral, population, and clinical research areas.

The poster session will serve to:

  • Capture the scientific impact of the PACHE program on underserved populations.
  • Highlight effective scientific approaches, methodology, and research designs.
  • Enhance networking opportunities among investigators in cancer and cancer health disparities research.
  • Present accomplishments and challenges for future PACHE research and training opportunities.

The poster competition will be held on Monday, July 28, from 5:35 PM to 6:30 PM.

For each abstract submitted, please carefully read and follow the Abstract Submission and Poster Guidelines (below).

All poster abstracts must be received by Friday, July 11, 2014

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstracts must be submitted online at http://www.cancermeetings.org/PACHE2014/abstract-upload.cfm using minimal text formatting (i.e., tables, etc.). Submissions should highlight the innovation, methodology, scientific rigor and outcomes that impact cancer or cancer health disparities.

Submitted abstracts should not exceed 250 words, use 1 inch margins (all around), Times New Roman 12 font, and must include:

  1. Title of abstract
  2. Author name(s), degree(s), affiliation(s)
  3. Primary presenter, affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, and email address
  4. Target population and cancer site
  5. Introduction, hypothesis/objectives, methods, results, conclusions, and future recommendations (opportunities/challenges). See example for formatting:

Abstract Selection Criteria

Abstracts will be selected by peer review based on innovation, methodology, results, and contribution to cancer research and/or cancer health disparities research. Submissions related to common topics will be grouped together for presentation depending on the chosen format. If your abstract is selected, you will receive a notice by Friday, July 18, 2014, including presentation guidelines.

Submissions must be received by Friday, July 11, 2014

Poster Submission Guidelines

Posters will be displayed on 4' high x 8' wide poster board and will compete with posters in the appropriate research category. The categories are as described above: basic and translational research, behavioral or population research, and clinical research. A poster board and push pins will be provided.

Poster setup and breakdown hours will be provided in the abstract confirmation letter.

Posters will be judged on the basis of scientific content; clarity of content; knowledge of subject matter; innovation; thoroughness; and impact.

An award will be presented to one winner within each category.
