The Symposium, co-sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), targets building the scientific evidence base and disseminating successful methods to boost cancer trial accrual.
NCI and ASCO are seeking participation of key leaders/representatives from sites/organizations who are actively engaged in clinical trial recruitment and conducting research and interventions to enhance accrual.
This Symposium will focus on empirical research that is testing interventions for overcoming barriers and promoting evidence development to enable effective clinical trial accrual.
The 1.5 day Symposium will feature interactive breakout sessions where leaders in the field of clinical trial accrual will review current methods and make recommendations for future research.
The goals of this Symposium are to:- Focus on solutions to advance cancer trial accrual
- Present existing and emerging, evidence-based trial accrual strategies among a variety of patient populations, settings, cancers, and trials
- Promote innovative strategies to common challenges in clinical trial accrual, including recruiting and retaining minority and under-served populations
- Identify recommendations for future research
- Provide a forum for idea exchange among researchers conducting cancer trial accrual studies and those implementing successful strategies
