Introduction of the concept and tools of Speed Networking and Research Collaborations

Participants will sit at a pre-assigned table (team) based on their similar research discipline and geographical region. The first 25 minutes will be devoted to a speed networking session in which each participant will spend around 3 minutes introducing themselves and conversing with the other participants one-on-one. Examples of networking topics will be: name, institution, research focus, and areas of collaboration needed. For the remaining 20 minutes, each team will be assigned a recently published cancer manuscript related to each team’s research discipline. The goal is for the team to work together to develop a draft Specific Aims Summary Page by the end of Session II and have a better understanding of grants writing and the review process. CRCHD will provide a paper template, and a Program Director (PD) will be available to help facilitate when needed. Session I will focus more on reading the manuscript and coming up with ideas.
11:30 AM – 12:15 PM Break (Lunch On Your Own)

5:15 – 6:30 PM Interactive Network Session II: Research Collaborations and Networking (Round Table Format) — Davyd Chung, NCI CRCHD
In Session II, teams will use the first 45 minutes to develop their Specific Aims Summary Page. In the final 30 minutes, teams will present a draft to their assigned PD. The PD will provide feedback and lead a time of discussion in which the team will review its own Specific Aims Summary Page based on certain review criteria.
