Description: Evaluating and documenting achievements related to building community partnerships and to other translation and engagement components of community-engaged research projects can be difficult. To address this expressed challenge, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) developed the Evaluation Metrics Manual as part of their Partnerships for Environmental Public Health (PEPH) network to help grantees and program staff. In this session, you will learn about PEPH, the components of the Evaluation Metrics Manual, how you can use them, and the observed benefits of this tool. |

Farrell, NCI DCCPS (PDF) Description: Using a virtual community of practice (CoP) as a means to engage researchers and practitioners presents an innovative strategy to build the capacity of the public health workforce, initiate dialogue, and reduce the gap between research and practice. In 2011, NCI launched an online CoP, Research to Reality (R2R), which engages community members at all levels of experience in an ongoing dialogue specifically around moving cancer control and implementation science into practice through dynamic communication and learning opportunities. This presentation will quantify NCI’s experiences to date and provide specific examples of how researchers can accelerate uptake of their interventions |
